Painting Bread

Last night, whether it was the heat or the fact that we were out for most of the day, we were exhausted, and really not in the mood to do much, but we still had to eat. Who doesn't love grilled cheese sandwiches, esp grilled cheese sandwiches that have flowers and hearts on them.

I found this on YES DIVAS CAN COOK (totally love her recipes!!) and thought I have to give that a try... it's been several months and I
never got around to it until last night.

Needless to say I think I may have gotten myself into some trouble with it, because every sandwich my daughter has had today... it has to be painte
d on. I debated giving her the loaf and having her pre-paint them all.

This is our ending result -

Cake In A Cup

For our second week of our " girls night" we had a crasher attend the party - my son : ) He wanted in on the action and since it didn't involve nail polish, makeup, or beauty treatments, we figured it was safe enough to invite him without completely ruining him in all things girly.

Again my little monkey was much faster with her spoon than I was with the camera.. but basically since she is my little budding chef, makeup artist, fashion designer, singer, actress, I try to encourage her with whatever it is she likes doing..

so she made cake in a coffee cup and get this..this is the best part... in the microwave! My kind of cooking!!! : ) (may not be the best way to encourage your kid to cook, but still cool nonetheless)
It's extremely easy and kid friendly and she had a blast watching it poof up in the microwave.

Here's the thing though.. it's not to sweet or chocolately so if you like both of those (and who doesn't) add in the chocolate chips like the recipe suggests.. I didn't have any or otherwise they would have been in there as well. But the ice cream really complimented it.
Here is the recipe from the website we got it from -

I'm fairly certain we will be making this often so I will snag a picture eventually.

As for our activity we decided a movie night would be the thing..

So cake in a cup and Bolt was our night.

Things needed -

4 TBS Flour

4 TBS sugar

1 ½ TBS cocoa

3TBS milk

2TBS oil

3TBS chocolate chips (optional)

1 egg

Splash of vanilla essence

1 very large coffee mug (I use the large cappuccino mugs)

Add the dry ingredients to the mug - mix

Add the egg, pour in the oil and milk - mix

Add the chocolate chips and vanilla – mix

Place in the microwave for 3 minutes (1000watts)

The cake will rise over the top, but don’t be alarmed

Allow to cool and tip out onto a plate (this will serve 2 people)

It's called dangerous chocolate cake as it's so simple and quick, you're now only 5 minutes away from fresh delicious chocolate cake!

One really cool mug
Topping of your choice - we used ice cream
Movie again of your choice

Chocolate and Clouds

I love Amazon, I especially love Amazon Prime. I was able to find some really inexpensive art projects for my daughter and I to do together - This being one of them. Melissa and Doug products have been littering my house since I've ahd my daughter and to see that they have these awesome wooden craft projects made me super excited. They are durable and definitely kid friendly (adult too). Something I will definitely be keeping to show her when she gets older.

Anyhow... after a long day and I got my son asleep, my little monkey and I set off to make chocolate and clouds ( chocolate pudding and whipped cream) and to do our art project.

I usually do this on a Saturday night since I know she doesn't have to get up early we can stay up late as we like.

Things need -

Jello Instant pudding mix
cool whip

I don't have a picture to show of our desert but needless to say she had a blast making it as much as she did eating it. And as for the project it self... I think she was so excited to play with the dolls she may have missed a few circles in coloring.. either way it was a very enjoyable couple of hours that just the two of us had together.

Our First Post : )

Welcome - hopefully this blog will be a help to anyone who comes across it. My daughter is my little world and spending time and doing girly girl things is my most loved thing to do.

She loves arts and crafts, anything beauty and fashion related as well as cooking... so amongst the different things you may see on here.. you will most definitely see a few of those. DIY, kid friendly recipes and so forth.
